Today is the day that killer cop Jason Van Dyke is set to be released– walking free after taking the life of 17 year old Laquan McDonald. A NATIONAL CALL TO ACTION

The National Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression is calling upon all our local branches, affiliate organizations, and allies throughout this nation to stand in solidarity with our Chicago branch.
This February 3, 2022, the Chicago Alliance united with a broad coalition of faith-based, community-based, and labor organizations is protesting the early release of convicted killer cop Jason Van Dyke.
Van Dyke brutally murdered 17-year-old Laquan McDonald, shooting him 16 times, including 14 shots after Laquan was already lying on the ground dying. For this heinous murder, Van Dyke was given only an 81-month sentence by one of Chicago’s most notorious racist judges, Judge Vincent Gaughan.
Now Van Dyke is being released on February 3rd which is a short time after he was convicted in October 2018.
We are outraged because this is in stark contrast to the many Black and brown people who are given harsh sentences for non-violent crimes and left to languish in prisons for decades. Many of the Black and brown people in prison in Illinois are there as a result of being tortured into confessing to crimes they did not do.
In 2016 the Chicago Alliance helped 49 survivors of police crimes and their families file complaints about civil rights violations involving torture and murder committed by officers of the CPD to the U.S. Attorney and the Department of Justice. The DOJ Civil Rights Division said they would investigate but no further action was taken and to this day CPD violators of our civil rights have not been held accountable. There have been no indictments or prosecutions.
We are demanding that the DOJ indict and prosecute Jason Van Dyke for murder. We are demanding indictments and prosecutions in all the 49 cases filed in 2016. We are demanding that the DOJ prosecute all the police who were complicit  of George Floyd in Minneapolis, Minn. In 2020.
On February 3, 2022, at 5pm we will rally and protest in the Federal Plaza in front of the DOJ. Stand in solidarity with us in front of the Federal building in your town or city.
We are calling for OUTRAGE AND DIRECT ACTION ON THIS DAY.  JOIN US!
ALL POWER TO THE PEOPLE!!!
