Sonya Massey Vigil
Join us Friday, July 26 at 7 pm at the Grassy Knoll as we honor the life of Sonya Massey, a 36 year old Black woman who was murdered at the hands of deputy sheriff in Springfield, Illinois in her own home.
We will build an altar, please bring any pots or sentimental items that you would like to leave at the altar.
We have continuously bore witness to this nation’s senseless acts of police state violence against Black bodies including the killings of Atatiana Jefferson in Fort Worth, TX and Sandra Bland in Hempstead, TX.
Black women deserve to live; not to be criminalized and seen as disposable. Sonya should still be ALIVE. Black women deserve to be respected and protected.
