FAQs

  • Our church would like to go on a short term mission trip to visit and serve children in an orphanage. Is there someone we can contact to make that happen?
  • Yes. Send us an email at info@DFWAlliance.org and let us know the name of your church, your name and telephone number, the approximate size of your group, the country or countries your group would like to travel to, and when your group would like to travel. We will then forward this information to the leaders of the participating ministries in The DFW Alliance as well as other orphan care ministries that we have relationships with and someone will follow-up with you promptly.
  • Can you point us toward some good resources and information that will be helpful in starting and growing an effective adoption or orphan care ministry in our local church?
  • We have provided links and references to some helpful resources and information on our Helpful Links page. If you can’t find what you are looking for there, please feel free to contact us at info@DFWAlliance.org.
  • I just want to talk to someone about adoption, do you have families that are willing to share their experiences?
  • Yes, there are many families in the participating ministries that are willing to discuss the miracle of adoption and what bringing a child into their lives has meant to them. Please email us at info@DFWAlliance.org and we someone will follow-up with you promptly.
  • We would like to talk with others who have started an adoption or orphan care ministry in their local church. Can you provide us with some contact information for ministry leaders who will be able to help us get started?
  • Absolutely. This is one of the primary reasons that The DFW Alliance exists. Just send us an email at info@DFWAlliance.org and tell us a little bit about the type of ministry you feel called to start and we will have a ministry leader contact you soon.
  • I am aware that there are over 500,000 children in the U.S. foster care system and over 120,000 of those children are waiting to be adopted into permanent, loving homes. Our church wants to reach out to these special kids in our local community. How do you recommend that we go about doing that?
  • A number of the ministries in The DFW Alliance actively work with representatives of the local foster care system and child welfare agencies to help raise awareness of the needs of children in the foster care system and to promote ways that people can become involved in loving and serving these children. The leaders of these ministries would love to have the opportunity to share ideas with you to help you discover how God might use your local church congregation to reach out to children in the foster system. Please send us an email at info@DFWAlliance.org and tell us a little about what you have in mind and someone will contact you to follow-up.
  • Can The DFW Alliance recommend an adoption agency or other adoption professionals for me to use?
  • In short, no. The DFW Alliance does not recommend or refer adoption agencies or other adoption professionals for a number of reasons. However, we can put you in touch with one of the ministries in The DFW Alliance that will help you as you work through the process of selecting the right adoption agency or adoption professional for you and your family.
  • Will The DFW Alliance post or circulate an announcement about an upcoming adoption or orphan care event or activity for my church?
  • It depends. Typically we only post and circulate announcements about adoption and orphan care events and activities of our Participating Ministries. However, there are some exceptions. But as a general The DFW Alliance will not promote or announce any adoption agency events or activities.

About DFW Alliance

The Alliance was organized in early 2006 to bring together local church adoption and orphan care ministries from various Christian churches in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. It was founded by Tapestry, a ministry for adoptive and foster families at Irving Bible Church in Irving, Texas, and “His Child” Orphan Care Ministry at Christ Chapel Bible Church in Ft. Worth, Texas.

The Alliance seeks to provide area ministries and church leaders with opportunities to share ideas and coordinate and collaborate on events and activities to serve adoptive and foster families as well as orphans, at-risk children and children in the local foster care system. It is also focused on efforts to raise up and support effective local church adoption, foster care and orphan care ministries – across the Dallas/Fort Worth area and beyond.
