Are You "For" Orphans?

Hollywood seems to have its own agenda and take on things. Let’s be honest – sometimes it gets it right, often it gets it wrong.

For the most part, it is clear that Hollywood does not have a healthy understanding or accurate picture of adoption and orphans. This is clearly evidenced by the new horror film Orphan, set to release on July 24.

Read Scott McClellan’s take (posted on AdoptiveDads.org) on this film and how we, as those who understand God’s heart for orphans, can best respond. In his blog post he highlights the effort of the Christian Alliance for Orphans and its Orphans Deserve Better campaign. I agree with Scott, the Christian Alliance for Orphans got it right . . . when it comes to adoption and caring for orphans, it matters far more what we are “for” than what we are “against.”

It can be all too easy sometimes to let people know what we are against. After you read Scott’s post and browse the Orphans Deserve Better website . . . consider how you can best respond to this movie by living a life that shows you are truly “for” orphans.

About DFW Alliance

The DFW Alliance was organized in early 2006 to bring together local church adoption and orphan care ministries from various Christian churches in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. It was founded by Tapestry, a ministry for adoptive and foster families at Irving Bible Church in Irving, Texas, and “His Child” Orphan Care Ministry at Christ Chapel Bible Church in Ft. Worth, Texas.

The DFW Alliance seeks to provide area ministries and church leaders with opportunities to share ideas and coordinate and collaborate on events and activities to serve adoptive and foster families as well as orphans, at-risk children and children in the local foster care system. The DFW Alliance also focuses on efforts to create and support effective local church adoption, foster care and orphan care ministries across the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
